To expand on the epic "Darkseid War" story currently unfolding in the pages of "Justice League," DC announced back in July that the event would receive an additional series of one-shots. As revealed in the initial press release, the six one-shots each focus on "key characters" from the event and focus on their "personal stories" that unfold during the showdown between Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor.

Now, DC has revealed four of the covers for the six "Justice League: Darkseid War" one-shots exclusively to Comic Book Resources. The covers for the four one-shots -- "Shazam," "Superman," "Green Lantern" and "The Flash" -- all come from artist Francis Manapul and feature the titular characters striking poses in striking new looks. The first of the one-shots, "Justice League: Darkseid War - Batman" #1, arrives in stores this Wednesday.

With today's release of Justice League #41, writer Geoff Johns and artist Jason Fabok are launching a new blockbuster event for the team — and the revamped DCU — titled "Darkseid War."

Spinning out of the final pages of last year's Forever Evil, "Darkseid War" will feature what Johns has described as "Darkseid versus the Anti-Monitor, with the Justice League caught in between." But in recent months, it's been revealed that "Darkseid War" will delve into the very history of the DC Universe, from the New Gods mythology to Wonder Woman's pantheon, while also challenging members of the Justice League to stop the destruction of reality itself.

With "Darkseid War" about to erupt in Justice League, readers are beginning to realize the scope of the story thanks to a couple previews in the last few weeks — the multiverse-spanning Justice League #40 and the introduction of Darkseid's daughter in DC's Free Comic Book Day issue.

Written by DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns with art by Jason Fabok, Justice League kicks off its "Darkseid War" storyline in June after after months of anticipation — ever since the Anti-Monitor showed up at the end of last year's Forever Evil

Billed as a war between Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor, with the Justice League caught between them, "Darkseid War" is has been revealed to be delving into the very history of the DC Universe, from the New Gods mythology to Wonder Woman's pantheon, while also challenging members of the Justice League to stop the destruction of reality itself.

Newsarama talked to Johns and Fabok about the latest developments in their Justice League previews, their approach to some of these new characters they're introducing, and what readers can expect from "Darkseid War."

Life in the DCU just got a little strange, particularly in Gotham City and Metropolis, after the events of DC's Divergence, the Free Comic Book Day title that was released May 2nd.

The issue included preview stories for best-selling titles Justice League, Batman and Superman, but the revelations — from the identity of the "all-new," mech-wearing Batman, to the origin of Darkseid's daughter, to the reason for the summer Superman crossover, "The Truth" — should reverberate through much of DC's main continuity.

As the company launches several new titles in June, they are also shaking things up in the existing superhero universe when their current two-month Convergence break ends. So without further ado…

Although the DC Universe might be taking a break from its regularly scheduled programming during Convergence, this week saw the release of several issues that not only featured major plot points and conclusions, but set up stories that are launching in June.

With the concurrent release of Convergence #4, Batman #40, Justice League #40, The Multiversity #2 and Superman #40, DC has simultaneously ended the old — and kicked open several doors to the new.

From a threat to Superman's secret identity, to the set-up for "Darkseid War," this week's issues were filled with surprising developments.
